I grew up near the water and always wanted to be a scientist. So when I was given the opportunity to combine science and my love of the ocean, I jumped at it. I’ve been preparing for a dive to test the water near a group of underwater volcanoes just off the coast. It’s important work, and there aren’t many scientists who are equipped for this sort of testing.
But the growing number of earthquakes has me worried. Things are unstable in this region, so being underwater for long periods of time might not be the safest option. Hopefully the volcanoes stay dormant long enough for me to collect my samples and get back to the surface. If not, I might find myself in a spot of trouble.
