Jess and I were on one of our first adventures together, heading to Steens Mountain and the Alvord Desert, located in Southwestern Oregon. We'd never really gone anywhere together. Hell, we'd only met each other a few times and were nothing more than acquaintances....
So here we are, committing to 8 hours each way for a 4-day camping trip with some other friends. The first hour went exactly how you'd expect a trip starting at 4am to go. Not knowing much about each other, I just had my playlist going and figured if it wasn’t okay, she'd say something. Not long later, “Roses” starts playing. In my head, I go, “Oh shit! I should probably skip this one.” But before I could change it, I notice Jess is singing along to the song. Holy shit! So I started jamming, knowing that the hours that lay ahead on our journey were about to get a whole lot more comfortable.
This one little song let me know that our music taste meshed and this trip would be great after all. That trip sealed the deal for our relationship and this song will always hold a special place for us because of it.
